AWARD CATEGORIES 2009

Excellence in Interpreting

This Award recognises a NAATI accredited, (or recognised, or with equivalent qualifications) interpreter or interpreters whose performance was outstanding for a particular assignment, series of related assignments or project, and includes the following elements: linguistic and interpreting skills; professionalism and ethical conduct; outcomes/purpose fulfilment.
 
Interpreters can be nominated by others for this Award, or may enter directly by completing an Entry Form and the relevant paperwork in the submission.
 
Excellence in Translating
This Award recognises a NAATI accredited, (or recognised, or with equivalent qualifications) translator or translators whose performance was outstanding for a specific assignment or series of related assignments or a project, and includes the following elements: evidence of research and use of available resources; accurately reproducing all the information, and faithfully reproducing the style, register and all other pragmatic features of the original; also a translation that fulfils its purpose; professionalism and ethical conduct.
 
Translators can enter directly by completing an Entry Form and the relevant paperwork in the submission, OR by third party nomination (the nominated translator then completes and makes the submission).
 
Outstanding Contribution to the Translating & Interpreting Industry
This Award is for an organisation or institution or business related/involved in the T/I industry for initiatives or activities benefiting the industry as a whole, including end-users and practitioners.
 
Entry, as with the other categories, can be made directly or via a third party nomination. Nominated organisations are advised of their nomination and encouraged to complete an entry.

Outstanding Contribution to AUSIT
This award will be presented to an AUSIT member, for their contribution towards AUSIT, be it as an office-bearer, or otherwise.

State branches are encouraged to nominate their members who contribute in an exceptional way to AUSIT. Nominations can also be made directly or via a third party nomination.

Outstanding Contribution to Indigenous Interpreting

This award will be presented to a practitioner, team of practitioners, language service provider, organisation, business, or institution that is part of, related to, or involved in some aspect of Indigenous interpreting in recognition for their work on a particular assignment, project or initiative that benefits the Indigenous community as a whole, including end-users and practitioners.
